But not on "house allowances" which gets very scetchy on churches that are founded by a single individual.

Nope. Next question.

“And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need.”

That’s true - that’s why I said base salary

I’m not religious so I don’t look to pastors for advice or guidance or anything. But I respect their profession. They have a lot on their shoulders and most of them handle it with grace and class

quote:You should use the entirety of the scriptures in Acts around that:
“And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need.”
Acts 2:44-45
quote:You see, this defines what is a growing and thriving church. You missed the entire point of the scriptures.
42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
Acts 2:42-47

It's like saying are all lawyers assholes. Are all cops dirty. You can't lump them all together. I've got a good friend who is dedicated and does a great thing. I've known others who were lazy. Like becoming a sheriffs deputy. If the church makes a fortune, someone should be explaining. If the church doesn't grow, they aren't doing a good job. So in between those two are the real people.

Did I?
Luke 12:16-21
16And he told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man produced plentifully, 17and he thought to himself, ‘What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’ 18And he said, ‘I will do this: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. 19And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.”’ 20But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ 21So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.”

I know what you said and that's why I pointed out the major tax loop hole most pastors use to get out of paying a majority of taxes even though they pay taxes on social security and Medicare unless they get a 4361 which exempts them from those taxes also. IE...don't pay taxes.

So, it's your assertion that all mega-church pastors are rich fools?

What do either of those passages have to do with whether or not pastors sleep all day.
I doubt they sleep all day as often as contract programmers.
Little bastards sitting at Barnes and Noble on a laptop sipping a mocha while I'm trying to get a book on my lunch break.
F those guys.

I went to a Lutheran school for 5 years. Pastors we had were cool, and since they were Married with kids, they weren't trying to get in our pants.
Only bad thing, was they still used the paddle for punishment. I got hit one day, it literally straightened me up, hurt like a mther farker.
