I am born and raised in South Louisiana and have never owned or even remember ever using one. I do own rain gear for hunting and fishing, but no umbrella. Whenever I see a grown man with an umbrella, I always think they must not be from the area.

Umm yes. I often have to park 200+ yds from my office door and it rains 3-4 days per week in South Louisiana

Yes, and I carry it in my bag, which has a designated compartment for it.

Using public transit to get to/from work, it's good to have one just in case.

I also keep a large one in my golf bag and one in the car.

I do, but only use it if it’s torrential and I’m walking a good bit. I don’t want to be soaked.

They seem like a bigger hassle than they are worth. I'd rather just get to my car in the rain then have a wet tent to lug around, dry out and keep track of when I get to where I'm going.

People look like they get more wet trying to close that thing when they get to their car then I do just jumping in.

This is dumb. Are you trying to be a hard arse or something? Why wouldn’t you use a very useful tool?

Congrats on dressing like a scumbag. I guess you don't need to worry about looking decent while finishing concrete.

No, I prefer a rain shell. My hooded Marmot Precip is my go-to.
