I would not by a Ford though.
Based on what?
I have known people with Fords in the past. There trucks actually seem to have gotten better over the years. I'm just not a huge fan of American vehicles in general. Not as reliable and don't seem to last as long or have as good of a resale value.

I'm a Toyota/Lexus "gets the first look" guy.
I would consider Ford vehicles as a domestic alternative.
General Motors and Chrysler are off the list for the foreseeable future - possibly excepting a Jeep Wrangler.

Pretty much everything on the market is reliable and dependable up to 100k miles and I usually don't keep them past that so it's pretty low on things I look for.
Resale?

There are so many American trucks with hundreds of thousands of hard miles on them that I will never understand this line of thinking.

they need to get rid of the grandpa column shifter.
They wont because it gives you more room in the console. And it is useful

I've had pretty good luck with F-250s
Every slap dick in Lafayette wants one but a lot can't afford a new one

American cars are just better than those cheap Asian knockoffs. I have always bought American, but have been looking at the Euro GTs for my next car. American manufacturers just don't have a lot of GT options when compared to the Euro GTs.

I have only driven Nissans so far.

The same culture and dedication to craftsmanship that managed to build a powerful navy out of our unwanted scrap metal in WW2 is the one I want making my vehicle.

So true. Carry on.

My family and I have driven nothing but GM cars my entire life, we have never had any car troubles and are extremely happy with the products.

On my second 4Runner, at 150k now, plan to get to 300k+.
When it comes time, I'll by another used T4R.

I won't buy any vehicle that was made with UAW labor. They screwed over secured creditors of GM and Chrysler. When they repay those secured creditors I'll consider buying vehicles that they assemble.

Resale?
Resale of full size pickups is at an all time high I feel. I had a 2012 F150 that I bought new for $29300. That was an advertised price from a dealer in TX at the time, required no special negotiating by me and anyone could have gotten it. If I wanted to buy that same truck now with similar miles, the cheapest one within 500 miles of me is only $500 less than I paid new almost 3 years ago. It's insane.

I try to buy quality at a value price regardless of where it is manufactured. I have a lot of confidence in Toyota/Lexus, but gm and Ford build great vehicles in the full size truck category.

Only GM, because the local dealer is a personal friend. Otherwise, IDGAF.

I have a Toyota Tundra now but when I make my future purchase of a more gas friendly car I'll purchase Hyundai or Kia to support the local economy in AL and West GA
