These days it seems Netflix is dog shite when it comes to movie selections on its streaming service. I never remember having problems finding a few good movies to rent when there were actual stores. And if I had a particular movie in mind the stores almost always had it, and Netflix never seems to.

Yes. I miss the whole process of renting physical movies and the smell of those stores.

Once DVDs came out this wasnt a problem. Not that rewinding was much of a hassle. You put the tape in here:

Then let it do the work

I miss the experience. Having no idea what you’re getting and browsing the store with family or friends, joking about some weird finds before grabbing a couple exciting options, sometimes a video game. Plus maybe a candy. You knew you were in for a fun night.

Sort of. Netflix doesn't really have new releases though. You have to rent those from Amazon, Google, Apple.

Most movies suck now though. There might be one or two a year released that I have any interest in watching.

Get off my law too.

There's no reason to other than nostalgia.

Right from the couch for the same price as blockbuster without the gas cost.

Best days as kid were having sick days and going to movie gallery to find 4-5 movies to watch at grandma’s the next day

The convenience is nice. I just think Hollywood's creativity has taken a nosedive since the 90s. I can't remember the last great movie that I've seen. Just remakes and superhero movies

Yep. I always could count on Blockbuster to have a movie a couple of months after it left the theaters. Now it is becoming more and more common that the streaming services want you to buy the movie with no rental option.

Miss them? No. There’s a Family Video down the road. Their sign was advertising Watson & Holmes (Holmes & Watson?) last week.

Video USA used to have their adult section. Always some embarrassed 40 yr old married dude walking out of there. Pay per view Spice channel was probably a godsend to those baws.

Seems to be quite a few of those still around the midwest. They're about the only video stores I've seen in a while. Growing up, there was a local video store down the road we used to go to. It was great to go there on Friday night and look through the covers they kept on the shelf. Was an excitement to it you don't get using Netflix or those other services. Takes some of the allure away having things always there ready to watch.
