I like hip hop. And have so since the 80s
But also if you pay attn to the lyrics, it really is shameful. Constant N bombs, violence, degrading women, etc.

I actually enjoy some rap music.. maybe it's because that's what I listened to when I was younger.. some guys I like: Eminem, TI, MGK, Outkast, Kendrick, Rick Ross, Gates, Boosie & Webbie, etc

Still like my classic rock a majority of the time though

My favorite song right now, and it's actually pertinent to what's going on in this country at the moment: MGK - A Little More

Blows everyone's mind when you recite every word of "wanna be a baller" on a road trip to lunch in business attire.

I love listening to rap for 2 reasons.

1. The beats are catchy

2. It's comical what these guys come up with. I often times wonder if they are doing on purpose or they consider themselves lyrical geniuses

Example
Dr. Dre
"Never let me slip, cause if I slip, then I'm slippin."

Thanks for clearing that up Doc

Kanye west
Don't try to treat me like I ain't famous My apologies, are you into astrology Cause I'm, I'm tryin to make it to Uranus

What?

Project Pat

I'm hungry for cheese like Hungry, Hungry Hippo.

Also

Good googly moogly that tang is juicy.

I mean it goes on and on

I actually used to rap in the late 90's still love it. The popular rap now isn't my cup of tea but there is plenty of newer underground hip-hop I listen to

Run the jewels, Brother Ali, Atmosphere, Lupe Fiasco, Talib Kwali, Childish Gambino stuff was good (haven't heard any of his newer stuff) all fun and well made without sounding over commercialized.

Growing up in the 90s, rap was by far my favorite genre of music.

Now, I barely listen to rap at all, and I think 99% of the guys out there now are awful.

I still listen to stuff from the 90s and early aughts once in a while, but some of the stuff (e.g. 2pac) hasn't aged all that well.

crap. It's about on par with pop music when it comes to creativity and talent. But less so. You can pluck any random 20 year old black kid off the street, give him to a good producer, and he would be successful.

You've pretty much described every pop star.

Ironically, at the VMAs Sunday, the rap guys were the only ones who weren't lip syncing.

This, I'm talkin' REAL old school though. Back in the 80's when they never mentioned killin' cops and that BS. It was more a goofy dance rap.

Since the Britney and boy band explosion of the late 90s, the real talent behind 98% of music are the producers

Sir Mixalot's Baby got back and this other rap song "Bob on my Knob" are the only 2 Raps I have listened to from start to finish. Totally dislike rap here!

Butt, I do like Baby got Back.

NWA came out in 1986.

Rap before NWA is fine I guess, but not my cup of tea.
