I let her drive because if i drive all she does is complain about my driving. The only complaint she gets from me while she's driving is she going to slow

What an absolutely retarded response

she can’t hold a god damn speed or keep right. Pisses me off.

One of my friends is like this. She will speed until we reach the car in front of us, and continue to do it to each car as others get over to let us pass.. but once she has open interstate and nobody left to tailgate, her speed drops to 60 and she coasts while everyone passes us again. Rinse and repeat.

My mom is the worst though. She drives like she’s terrified to be in the car. Braking randomly on the interstate, driving 30 in a 45-50, etc. On top of it she’s bad at navigating, and it doesn’t help that she lives outside of BR and rarely comes into town. She insists on following me if we are driving separately, but when she follows she doesn’t pay attention because she just does whatever the person she’s following does.

She followed me from downtown to the Chimes one day and I took highland all the way down. When I went to take a left to park behind Chimes, I of course had to wait until I had an opening since there’s no arrow. She followed me blindly (and barely made it in front of oncoming cars) and also didn’t see that pedestrians were crossing the street behind my turn and nearly hit them. They were pissed.

She was like “I wasn’t looking for people walking!” as if that’s a proper excuse I refuse to let her follow me now.

My BIL can't hold a steady speed on the freeway to save his life. Cruises up to the speed limit then drops off ten mph and abruptly speeds back up to the speed limit and then drops off again. My head was constantly bouncing off the head rest. It was the last time we let him drive us anywhere.

usually make him drive for trips so I can dick off on my phone, but I drive us 90% of the time in the city.
I drove for work forever so I know new orleans and can handle the huge interchanges/six wide lanes etc (like Houston and phoenix) more aggressively than he can

My wife is a good driver, but I drive about 99% of the time. I don't mind her driving, especially if I am tired, but it's hard to watch. If I'm letting her drive so I can take a nap, then that's fine.

But it's not just her, I've kind of gotten that way with anyone who is driving.

It depends:

1. When we are in a vehicle with a clutch - absolutely yes. She does a great job with a third pedal.

2. When we are in a vehicle with an automatic transmission - no way. She is always accelerating or braking. No coasting at all.

Yes, I let her drive on long trips. But it’s fricking anxiety inducing. If we are driving around town, I’m always in the drivers seat.

Ya know, air travel exists

Frick that. Family of 4 plane tickets plus rental car always causes me to balk at air travel. Throw in the extra Covid mask wearing and cavity searches and that's a hard no.

I took a flew flights with my son while looking at colleges over the last year and air travel now is ruined. I'd rather just not go than fly.

My wife is the worst side seat driver in the fricking world.
Mine as well. The kicker is that in the 14 years we've been together, she has been in 4 wrecks that were her fault. I have been in zero. There have been a couple of times that she pissed me off so bad with what you describe, that I pulled that out and threw it in her face. She is so terrified of my driving, yet if you look at both our history I should be the one terrified of her.

She doesn't know how to talk and keep her eyes straight ahead on the road at the same time. She has to physically turn and face the passenger. It drives me fricking crazy. That, and how slow she drives on a trip is why I will ONLY let her drive on a travel trip when I have been driving a while and need a break. And it's only to catch a real quick cat nap and then I'll usually take over very shortly after that.
