Just started becoming a thing with my 8 year old. He’s gone to 2 and hosted one, we know the other parents well and have similar belief structures and parenting styles.

I would not let him go to someone’s house I didn’t know very well

They all show up with their personal ipad so they can keep in touch with their parents all night. I had a sleepover bday party for my son and one of the kids vanished. After looking everywhere I was about to panic at the thought of telling his parents he was missing. Come to find out, he called his mom from his ipad and she came down the street and picked him up. Just walked out and left without saying a word.

yea the ipad thing is pretty much a thing with every kid now.

i am pretty protective of letting my 1st grader stay somewheres. only a couple houses we let him and we know parents very well.

Absolutely, parents need to be aware of the situation in the home. Especially with girls. Mine usually stays with a group in a birthday party situation. She has also been coached from birth as to what is acceptable and not. But just keeping her home prepares her for nothing, so I let her go.

Friend of mine was allowing his boy to sleep over at one of his kid’s friends houses. Until my friend found out the son’s friends father dressed in drag.

Apparently nothing happened, but my friend still showed up on his door step to call him a clown, and if he finds out he was teaching his child that crap he’ll kill him.

Supposedly the guy was a boyscout leader too.

It’s a shame you have to screen the parents for this clownery now too.

The mom should have notified you that he left

She probably assumed that he told me she was coming. I hate when they show up with their ipads. It’s rude to be honest, almost like saying we aren’t exciting enough to keep you occupied. And if you need to contact your parents for whatever reason, you can simply tell me and I will gladly call them.

sorry but if you are in 4th grade, 5th grade etc....and you are such a wuss you cant stay off moms tit for a night...thats sad

My son has this one friend who every time he comes over, wants to sleep over, and by 11pm is crying and wanting to go home. I let that happen twice before I told him and the mom agreed, no more trying to sleep over. Just come and hang out during the day, go play outside and you are home by 7pm.

Hell they’re given IPads at school while being told to limit screen time. It is hilarious

We recently moved him into the basement. He has about 1500 sq feet to himself.

My best friend throughout elementary and high school had this situation the last few years of school. His place was THE place. Either to get into shite, sneak out to get into shite, or get into shite and sneak in very late to sleep it off.

Your post brought up so much nostalgia of trying not to and so eti.es getting busted by his mom and dad.

We were such little shits.

He said 6th grade, not 6 years old. That's middle school.

Most people don't allow sleepovers at 6 years old.

He said, which I quoted, 1st grade. Which is 6-7 years old.

I know one thing

When my son is a teenager, he will under no circumstances be allowed to stay at a buddies house that has an older sister

If you know, you know

I'm not saying this is bullshite, but it's most likely your friend's son is gay and was doing stuff and this guy deflected, if true at all.

I mean, I heard from a friend that apparently during church camp a preacher supposedly touched his kid's weiner, so I am told he showed up at the next service and crucifed him.

i said i think its absurd but i qualified my post above that to say 4/5/6th graders is who i didnt let call home.

i have a 1st grader and would absolutely let his friends, thats too young.

i still think its absurd though at 1st grade you are so scared you cant sleep over somewhere

That seems crazy to me that kids are going everywhere with ipads. I wouldn't expect to ever see that thing come back if I sent my boys to spend the night out with a tablet, but they're only 6 and 4. They have really only spent the night with cousins but the 6 year old has spent the night at a friend's house twice.

I don't mind letting my kids go to sleepovers or have sleepovers. I just hate it that they never sleep well and there is a 1-2 day recovery.

Daughter is 10 and son is 8. They both go to sleepovers and also have friends come and stay here. They probably do it once a month. Don't see the big deal if you know the parents and kids pretty well.
