I was watching this clip that was talking about parents are more likely to say no to their kids having sleepovers due to not taking a chance of something happening. Reasons were given was because of not trusting the other parents, covid, or having a different lifestyle. They also said the new thing is letting kids stay over at someone’s house until 10pm-midnight and picking them up calling it a half over or late over lol.

yea, all the time....now not letting them go to some randos house without atleast meeting the parents first. usually we know the parents pretty good.
my kids have friends though evenin 4th/5th and even 6th grade that will not stay the night places because they are scared
most of the time they will call their parents to come get them around 11 or at bed time. word has gotten around at school not to stay at my house if you are scared because i dont allow them to call their parents and make them stay the whole night even if they are crying
broken 2 kids of that shite doing that. sorry but i find it absolutely absurd that after 1st grade you are such a wuss you cant be away from your mommy a single night.
might would be different with girls but i find it insane with boys.

My parents were pretty strict about who I could spend the night with. If their parents were divorced and it was at dad's house, that was a hard no.

I’m not going to lie, this seems overbearing and I’d be fricking pissed about it. But again, my kids love spending the night out at friends

this is a problem with how transient our society has become. you don't really know people like you used to.

Why would the kids be scared and/or start crying at the thought of staying overnight at your home?

When I was around 9 I had a friend that was killed at a sleepover when the mother killed herself and the family.
Never scared my parents enough to not let me go to sleepovers but it haunts me today with my kids.

You'll get shite, but I agree. I may let them go home, but they would never be invited back. Not waking up in the middle of the night every time you come over. You just won't come.
