The latest polling in the race for New Orleans mayor shows that with just over three weeks to go, two women are poised to make the runoff.
The independent poll commissioned by VoicePac shows the following:
Desiree Charbonnet 26%
Latoya Cantrell 17%
Michael Bagneris 11%
Troy Henry 5%
VoicePac is releasing the poll ahead of a debate between the top candidates.

This is what's crazy.....people are going to see Charbonnet in the lead and this 24% undecided or refusing to answer is going to want to vote for a winner and vote strictly based off of those numbers.

Where are they doing the poling? I haven't seen any polls?
They were listing credentials and Henry explained he has fixed/worked on 5 or 6 different cities water systems and also helped develop areas post Katrina. All Charbonnet said was "I am grass roots".

I did not think I would because I thought he was too arrogant, but I am starting to lean towards Bagneris. Charbonnet will be more Barthelemy and Morial type business as usual handouts, and Cantrell will be a disaster.

Henry won last night's debate, hands down.
His answers had the most substance of any candidate and he has a tangible plan for moving the city forward. I came away really impressed.

No doubt about it. He is clearly the best candidate. I had no clue about Cantrell except from what I heard here and came away shocked at how well she did. Thought she was the second best on stage last night.

Moved to Madisonville a year ago and I kick myself for not leaving years ago. When I visit family in Texas and Tennessee for a week, I realize how shitty the state as a whole is and I would leave if my career allowed it.

THIS ALL DAY...wife and I are going to push our son to an out of state university and movr wherever he lands his first job. I can assure you I will do everything with my powers of persuasion to keep him from coming back to this cesspool that is LA.
Depresses me every time I go someplace and come back to our airport and/or see that sign welcoming me to Lousiana on I-10.

My career does allow it. Although I have a great job, Louisiana is a shite market in my field. I just have to convince my wife that pulling my kids out of their school won't be the end of the world

One would think but the thing NOLA has going for it is that its landlocked. Whens the last time there was new development on the eastbank of Orleans Parish? An entire generation ago? New land for new developments is what keeps the cap on houses in places like St. Tammany.
My wifes realtor friends say the market is starting to cool. There was a time a few years ago where there was nothing for sale Uptown, bidding wars on every house and sellers could name their price.

I already left. once you realize how a city is supposed to function, it was unfortunately an easy choice. I love that city but I can't drown with it.

I love NOLA. Have a large group of friends who do as well. All of us have great jobs and most of us are home owners. Even know a few business owners under 30. All the things you haters talk about is part of the charm and it's funny to see you all actually wanting to see a place fail for no reason. If you want to move somewhere else, more power to ya, we'll be here with delicious food and a cold cocktail waiting when you come back to visit.

ya, i really think the uptrend peaked 1-2 years ago and its been moving the opposite direction ever since.
airbnb etc did help drive up those prices
