thats great, and I truly hope you are happy but the perks no longer outweighed the problems. I used to work in that industry that drives the city (I'm no longer in it, it was a love/hate relationship) and I'm glad I left for greener pastures (city wise and career wise).

for all the good things that NOLA is as a cultural hub, because there truly isnt another american city like it, the constant flooding after a 30 min shower (because the pumps either didnt work or werent turned on), the mogadishu style streets (I lived in a good part of lakeview too), the constant money grab from the city in parking and booting, lack of true industry, etc. etc. made living there harder than it should be.

I do hope it gets better but for me and my family, especially when young ones come and schooling comes into play, it was the right choice to leave. i'll always visit. (plus being a bartender at a decent place in new orleans leaves you with plenty of skills and recipes to make your own cold beverages. )
