Fair enough. I got a bit carried away responding to some hardcore NOLA haters. I went a tad too far.

Weekends I spend on the coast.
Vacations I spend out of Louisiana.
New Orleans never crosses my mind.

I've never had home cooked creole style gumbo, but I'd be willing to try.
The restaurant versions I've had have not been good

That's weird. Everyone I know in Nola who is hardcore about the city, absolutely hate jazz fest. Hell, I've played at it twice, and never stayed until the end of the night. Only good thing about it, is the shows after the festival of over. And those are usually a rip off.
This is a overly negative comment. I'm not the biggest Jazz Fest fan in the world and don't go every year, but the food selection is awesome and I've seen some really good performances there. They get great talent and you really can see a wide variety of talent walking around in one day (Jazz, rock, R&B, etc.). I think it's really cool seeing all the little street bands outside playing in front of homes while walking to the Jazz Fest too. It's unique. I don't like sweating my arse off, so that's a negative. The prices have gone up too much on tickets due to it getting too big, but the food is reasonably priced and everyone is friendly and seems to be having a food time.

I tend not to enjoy restaurant gumbo as much in general. Though a few places have a good one like Coquette, Commanders etc.

Out of about 1.2 million in the metro, about 2/3rds choose not to live in New Orleans proper.
So most of us refuse to live in New Orleans
