When I lived in Nashviile, this is what I would hear when me and the wife said we moved from Nola
"Oh I had a blast for John Does bachelor party. But were you scared living there?"
"Or we got fricked up it was awesome. The food was fantastic. But oh man did it smell like shite"

We aren't talking about living though. And I think you're exaggerating saying every single person you talk to has some negative qualifier in their statements regarding NOLA.
