I'm sorry for the stress Ksayetiger.
I was seeing up a heroin addict 2 months ago and a Surg tech hit my wrist and caused me to stick my own finger.
I was so pissed off. But all tests for both of us has come back negative.
Thank the big guy upstairs I was doing surgery on a 'clean' abuser.....

There is now medication which can cure you of Hep C. Thinking is called Harvoni.

If my calculations are correct, assuming they are married, he should be safe for the next 500 years.

And that is without a condom and having intercourse each time with an infected female.

How many of you know a heterosexual person who got HIV from another heterosexual person during heterosexual vaginal intercourse where neither of them used IV drugs?
I'm guessing 0

I know a (I never thought he was straight) married dude that has Magic Johnson aids...He told his wife that he was raped and she bought it.

I used to work with a gay guy in BR and was told that he had caught the AIDS. That's about as close as I've come to it.

If her viral load is undetectable and he is taking pre-exposure prophylaxis meds, the chances of infection are pretty low.
Been awhile since I've seen the data but I want to say the risk of a male contracting HIV through vaginal intercourse is like 1 in 2,500 exposures.

In the new Obama Healthcare world, nurses can become NPs by taking crappy online courses and will basically be doctors.

Which is why I refuse to be seen by an NP. I will not pay the same amount of money for inferior care

That is 100% ignorance. I had an aunt that I was very close to who contracted HIV in this manner. I also know the guy she contracted it from. Both very educated and professional people with no prior IV drug use. I know my aunt never even smoked pot, don't know about the guy but I know he never did IV drugs.
She passed away in 99 from cancer. The Dr said she got cancer as a result of the HIV and the immune system being shot.
HIV is very prominent in the black community in the south, especially in BR. My aunt lived in BR, graduated from LSU with a 4.0 GPA. She also liked the BBC and she paid for it with her life.

Damn 24??? How young was he when he contracted it?

For every 1 rare story like this, there are 100s that involve homosexuality and / or drugs, or a medical situation that involves needles or transfusions. I am sorry for your family's loss. My post was to point out that the vast, overwhelming majority of HIV/AIDS cases involve someone who did IV drugs, got a bad transfusion or engaged in homosexual acts at some point in their life.
