IIRC Bill Clinton has it (it came out as part of his physical when he was President).

Shingles is caused by the same varicellla virus as chicken pox. They just call the skin condition herpes zoster. Its not related. If you've ever had chicken pox you carry the virus forever, it just manifests itself as shingles when your immune system is compromised, this is why older people get it so often.

I used to get cold sores occasionally but I haven't had one in years so I beat herpes.

I think it’s much harder to transmit these days as there are medicines that reduce outbreaks. If you have sex with an infected person and they’re not having an outbreak chances are slim you’ll catch it

When I was in undergrad a friend of mine who was a virgin at the time told me about this girl he was "talking to", who told him that she had herpes. She also had a kid, I'm pretty sure. I tried to convince him not to do it, but I'm not sure if he did or not.

He was a weird kid, not terrible looking but had shite confidence, which is basically chick repellent.
