We had one douche who we had to promote out of our division just to get rid of him. He was an arrogant know-it-all who was an insufferable name dropper and wore God-awful cologne that stunk up our entire work space. The powers-that-be sent him across the street to kill time until retirement, and nobody was too upset when he finally left.

Hmmm. Have you considered the possibility that he legit doesn't give a frick what the rest of you think about him?

Our warehouse guy has an extreme case of BO all the time. We've tried the subtle hints, bought him a bunch of body wash and deodorant for Christmas presents, put a bunch of air fresheners in his office, someone even gave him some new fresh smelling detergent for his clothes as we still can't figure out if its him or his clothes that wreak. Now we're just straight up telling him he stinks. His smell actually lingers in the hallway or whatever office he had to go to for his job. It's terrible, especially in the summer.

've yet to see and owners wife who was not a biatch. The owners are usually great people and for some reason put the wife in charge of finance and payroll. They don't have any experience beyond making bank deposits but think they are economic geniuses. The worst or doctors or dentist who let the wife manage the office. Universally disliked by every employee and probably accounts for the large turnover in staff.

We are dealing with this exact thing right now.

My wife is a PA and works for a small independent doctor. He is a brilliant ENT doc and surgeon, but a terrible office manager. So, his wife handles all of that, as well as the finances.

She is a total bitch. It's almost like there's a mold somewhere labeled "doctor's wife" that pumps out these bitches and releases them into the world to make everyone's live hell.

Last week was the last straw and my wife gave her two weeks notice. She didn't even have another job lined up, but she couldn't take anymore.

She asked me if she should be honest with the doc, who she gets along great with, about why she's leaving.

I said, well, he's not going to risk losing half his shite in a divorce, which means he's not going to do anything to change the situation, so don't bother. Leave on good terms and don't look back.

I don’t know how some of you baws can work for a small family business.
Seems absolutely awful if you aren’t family.

There are a lot of benefits to working at a smaller family business as opposed to a larger corporate setting

This is without a doubt the worst thing about working for a smaller family business

Schedule mainly, being able to come and go as you need to more than in a corporate setting. The current family business I am working for also is a lot more generous come year end bonus time than anywhere else I have worked. You're not just a number at a smaller business.
I am guessing you have only worked in larger corporate settings or you would know the pros/cons

correct, although I’ve found them to be far more accommodating than I had thought they would be, coming out of school

I'm sure a lot of them are. I had a bad experience at one and even worse at a corporate type law firm, so I am somewhat biased. That being said, I am entertaining an offer to go to a large corporation in 2020...mainly because of the big drawback you already posted about not being in the family of the family business I work for

I worked in an office with a major a-hole who was the most skilled employee there. But I absolutely believe that no matter how good someone is at their technical job, if they don’t play well with others, they should be let go. The stellar production of one employee is not worth killing the morale of an entire office. But most bosses don’t have the courage to make that move.

saving this for the next time that fricker chicken bans me

She would have sent an email to HR and cc the whole team so they could see how insane she was. frick that.

Unless you are on call or you have a job where people's lives are at risk, I doubt anyone she would have cc'd would have had a problem if you didn't answer her call.

And 14 times she called? After the 3rd or 4th I would have told her I was at the doctors office and that she would have to just wait. I don't care of she is your manager, if managers do some irrational stupid shite and you can't let them suck you into their crazy shite.
