You mean the part where a police officer literally shot someone to death in Oregon? That part was really racist.

I'm talking about posts in this thread and the one on the poliboard.

Well in a sense everything was their land at one time, but no this isn't their reservation.
They just recently discovered a burial ground a mile away from the pipeline. Convenient huh?
i call it "smart". that's what this board would be calling a development company that kept an ace hidden.

The state held hearings and practically begged the tribe to attend and voice concerns. They moved the pipeline route something like 114 times to accommodate other special interests. So pipeline was approved. Tribe never said boo until recently.

It's our country. We won it fair and square with likker, worthless treaties and beads.
Tell 'em to get a move on.

Tell 'em to get a move on.

If this is true they can go frick themselves.
Time for progress to take over.

It's true.
It's also true that the feds paid millions to build them a new water system that is nowhere near the pipeline, and their claims of potential water contamination are false.

I mean, yeah it is a smart "negotiation" strategy. However I think the idiots buying into their narrative are dumb.

Was the pipeline ever originally supposed to go through their land and thus them being paid for it? Or was it always just going to go nearby?
At some point in this project's it was definitely intended to go through there. Any project of this scope goes through a large number of iterations.
Anecdotally I understand the tribe was offered $10 mln to cross the reservation but wanted 50.

Quite a contrast between the reaction to these protesters and the reaction to the Oregon wildlfe refuge takeover.
I get the, natives desire for more money but their white sympathizers are gullible

In all fairness, if there is any group of people in this country that can legitimately claim they've been bamboozled by the US Government pretty consistently, its the Indians.

They live below the poverty line becuase they choose to live below the line. They don't work. They just live on the reservation and collect a check. Well actually not all live on reservation, some choose to live in the regular world. There are many who work in addition to their gov benifits. They do relatively well. Out west, the reservations are really bad. They live like white trash. Lots of run down houses and drugs/alcohol is rampant. Again they chose to live that way. I kind of understand some since they live in the middle of nowhere and there's nothing to do except drink and do drugs. There's no industry or business to support the communities. They're just little po dunk towns
I live a few miles away from Salt River Reservation. It's like driving into a third world country driving through there. So depressing. Such a stark contrast to the nice areas of Scottsdale right next to it. But yeah.....many Navajos here are just fat, ugly(seriously have yet to see a pretty 100% Navajo chick), and lazy as frick. They can go to college for free if they wish. Completely free healthcare through the Indian Health System (IHS).

You lose the Indian wars you lose the right to complain. Losers walk*.
*not really. They have a valid complaint.

My opinion is that those archaeological discoveries should be verified. If they are legit and substantial, the tribe should be compensated for their destruction, but the pipeline allowed to move forward in a way that preserves what wasn't destroyed. If the claims are false, then the tribes should be forced to compensate the pipeline for the costs associated with these delays.
Honesty, this whole situation smells like BS. This looks like bird-dogging Soros paid protestors being paid by Warren Buffet to stop the pipeline so he can keep moving the oil with his railroads.
