Yeah, but in stressful environments they turn more into intrusive thoughts. And you become overtly critical of yourself.

That study says at most 50% do, meanwhile the overwhelming majority here so far does.
Where are the 50-70%ers. Show yourselves.

I've always had an inner monologue. I assumed everyone else had one as well until I discovered they didn't.

My inner voice is confrontational. I would get into daily fights if I listened to it more.

Doesn't everyone have both? I mean, I talk to myself in my head all the time. But I also zone out and it's just like nothings going on. I enjoy those blissful moments when I don't question everything I do in my own head.

It's also important to note that internal dialog can at times be subconscious and can shape behavior. The key is being aware when it's occurring.
Great point.

It got me questioning whether or not I understand what an inner monologue is
Is it running constantly? No but I’ll have whole arse internal conversations in the shower, writing emails, weekly meal prep, previewing the Florida State game, etc.

Life would be boring without one. Mine has been my YouTube commentary channel for everything for as long as I can remember.

For those that don't, how do they read, or does that not count if it's the only things said? Or does there mind work where it truly just goes from sight to some image or understanding without actually saying the word internally?
