I love a good religious debate as much as the next guy, but it'd probably be best to leave it out of this thread. OP, you were dealt a shite hand in that situation. A lot of people wouldn't have even bothered to go pick their friend up, but you did the selfless thing and did, and by no fault of your own there was a tragic accident. It takes some serious balls for you to try to get help and be honest about how you're feeling. I know it's a cliché but your friend would want you to move on and find happiness, so you could see that as doing something for him. Chin up man, you sound like a good person.

That's deep, man. Glad you don't accept any easy answers in life. Religion is for people who aren't as smart as you, right?

As much as I love making fun of "believers," this isn't the place for that.

how Christian of you....

well, with the hypocrisy that modern day Christianity seems to wallow in, it's really not hard to be superior.... but to answer your question, no...

i'm not claiming something ridiculous like religious people are hillbillies.... my grandfather, who was a Southern Baptist preacher, certainly wasn't, nor was my other grandmother, who was a devout Catholic her entire life....

I didn't read the whole thread, but has anyone suggested hypnotherapy, specifically Rapid Resolution Therapy? It is a terrific therapeutic approach, especially for dealing with traumatic events. My wife was a certified counsellor in this type of therapy but she no longer has a private practice. But there are others in the area who use it. Just do a google search to learn more. Good luck. My prayers are with you!

Myself and another poster merely asked the OP if he was religious. The other poster made a suggestion for a book to read if he was religious that helped him out. If the OP would have replied he was religious I would have suggested he maybe seek counsel from someone from his church or seek prayer about it to bring some comfort.

Our posts were on topic.....in providing suggestions for ways for the OP to cope. You chose to derail the thread and turn it into a religious debate without even knowing if in fact the OP is a religious person or not.

Swag was giving his own advice and you chose to shite on it because you disagree with it and it offends your delicate sensibilities. You just look incredibly insecure in this thread.

I'm an agnostic myself and I don't give stuff like that a second thought but I don't go out of my way to shite on it like you did, especially when the person is sincere in trying to help. There's a time and place for everything.

I haven't read this whole thread so SIAP but I would recommend getting involved volunteering. Habitats for humanity, nursing homes, helping homeless, whatever might interest you. It really can change your perspective on things and make you feel better about life's purpose.

As far as your situation, yes I have had acquaintances or seen similar situations. You're not the only one it's happened to of course. The past cannot be changed. The future, however, can take many courses.

You have to keep telling yourself that bad things sometimes happen to good people. You tried to do the right thing and there was an accident; these things do happen in life. But you have to keep telling yourself that it wasn't on purpose and you tried to do the right thing.
