No, live below your means and marry a woman that is a higher earner.

You bet. Read :

David Ramsey - Financial Freedom
Bob Brinker - Critical Mass

With discipline, you eventually reach critical mass and financial freedom.

I and many others been there, done that.

2k for a car is laughable.

A 2k car won’t last a month before you’ll have to start paying for repairs.

Wife and I make more money than we ever did and it feels like less. We have a cheap mortgage and one cheap car payment. But groceries, insurance, and other household goods are vastly inflated price wise. We also spend nearly 20k per year between daycare and private school tuition. I’m constantly worried about money.

The last 2 years have been tough. My wife has been finishing up her Master's degree to become an NP and between studying and clinical hours, shes only been able to work part time as an RN. So right now im stressing alot about money. She takes her boards test next week and hopefully by April she'll start her new NP gig but it's been rough stretch. Bourbon helps.

Yes, but for me it happened after turning 50. Thirty years of saving and planning has made the difference.
