Popeyes Chicken livers are awesome...
Never had Popeyes but there was a Sunrise on Grand Calliou Road in Houma that had the best fried liver and gizzards. Unfortunately it ain’t there no more.
Love calf liver and grits too.

I don't get how people can eat chicken gizzards like they are the best thing in the world. I'll go to a cafeteria style restaurant where you get one meat, and two sides and see people all the time get a plate full of fried gizzards. That shite is not good and just chewy as frick. Fried chicken livers are so much better, but even then I can only eat a few of them and would never get a plate of them.

Love it. Fry it and saute it with cashews and onions with garam masala. Makes a great appetizer with some whiskey drinking

Can’t stand the smell. Put me in the no column.
My wife will smother liver for me but I can not be home while she is cooking it. I came home early day while she was cooking it and made her throw it away because it smelled spoiled.

I like it in dirty rice. I cannot eat them fried. About 1982, I got an order of them from KFC. They tasted good, but then I spewed chicken livers from both ends for about 2 days.
Even smelling them made me kind of queasy for about the next 35 years.

You have to cook them for hours and they'll eventually get tender. Good vittles!!

If you want to fry them you can put them in a pressure cooker for about 15 minutes then fry and they are as tender as a woman’s heart.
My grandmother (and now me) always cooked them down in a nice chicken gravy for a couple hours or so and serve over rice. Man those are good.
And all the pate lovers in the thread (and those who like the liverw anyway) make the recipe I posted on the 2nd page. It is easy and really good. Beats a can of potted meat.

For an inferior and unsavory palate, sure.

When I was a kid my mom used to make a casserole with rice and chicken livers and a cream sauce that maybe had a little sour cream in it. It was delicious. Very rich but very good. I’m going to have to see if she still has that recipe.

Yes, it is very good.
