I have given between $5K-$10k to Arizona for 17 straight years, but I am stopping because of the BS in the Athletic Department.

I will regularly give to my university until the day I die.
I love few things in life more than my alma mater.

I donated enough getting my degree, and they haven’t done a thing for me career-wise, since.

No because I don’t trust them to use the money in a positive manor
Posted on 3/21/19 at 10:23 pm to DavidTheGnome
I donate every year and plan to increase.

High school? Regularly.
Colleges? Occasionally.
LSU as long as fricking Alexander and Alleva are there? Never

The university I go to is LSU, so I think you ought to know the answer on if I donate to them or not.

I live across the country so the perk of season tickets, tailgating clubs, etc is irrelevant.
I donate to the local bars whenever I am back in town. I buy a calendar whenever we win a championship.

Nah...LSU got enough from me 11 years ago.
If my son decides to go there, they can have my money then.

Don't worry the wife has that covered she was UNC under, she is one of those split allegiance people as she went to Duke for grad school.

Yep. Through TAF fees only.
LSU, the only university in the SEC where donations to athletics are higher than those to academics. Roofs are leaking, ceilings are covered with black mold, no raises for professors, but the tiger gets to live in comfort.

Most people donate enough, and spend years paying off those donations.

My daughter is a student at UF. She was a valedictorian and got some good scholarships from outside sources. UF gives out schollys to high achieving students so she applied. She was turned down.
She has a few friends with Hispanic last names. Their parents make bank and have about $150k worth of vehicles in their driveways. These two friends got outside scholarships and full rides from UF, with lesser academic accomplishments.
I told her that once she graduates, UF is going to hit her hard, fast and continuously for donations. I told her to remember that UF turned their back on her because she is not Hispanic, and to give them nothing.
I also told her that if she is hit up by the foundations and groups that gave her scholarships, in her time of need, to remember them too.

My mother did for awhile until the football signal was scrambled and she couldn't watch the football games on her satellite.

My “alma mater” left a sour taste in my mouth. I had professors that were awesome, then some that made me question wtf we were there for. Plus I took questions directly to the head of my department and would get 3 different answers. With that being said, they’re lucky I sometimes wear the one shirt I have with their logo on it. For the record, I only wear that shirt because it’s comfy as hell.

My parents did for 8 years, isn’t that enough?

Anyways for those that dondonate is it annually or you just donated a lump sum one time payment and is it specifically designated for a specific use?
I donate $1000 each year to UCF even though my alma matter is LSU.
1. LSU makes a killing with football revenue and waste it with stuff like buying out Les for $20 mil. Plus I paid them crazy out-of-state tuition.
2. UCF is local, has a huge impact locally, and I hang out a bit on campus and regularly audit classes there.
I feel obligated to give back to UCF, LSU got my money when I attended. Do the right thing.
