I have a two and a half year old daughter (she is absolutely adorable and the best thing that has ever happened to me so no I will not be posting a pic you pervs) and lately I have been thinking about what personality traits I want and don’t want to pass along to her as she gets older. I have pride in my work ethic and my ability to work hard. I think this comes from seeing my dad’s ability to just get stuff done when I was younger. I think there is a big difference between being a hard worker and someone who simply isn’t lazy. I also think that telling someone that they are a hard worker is one of the biggest compliments you can give someone. I’ve always thought that you do not have to be the smartest person in the world to make it in this world, but if you are a hard worker you will be ok. You may not have the most glamorous or highest paying job out there, but you will be a productive member of society, but you will be OK.

What say you?

Generally-

Every good trait of Mom’s and Dad’s the kid won’t get.

Only the bad ones.

I didn’t make the rules.

I am and always will be a hard worker. But you can be a great worker and still not be a great father....

My shift manager at the plant says I push a button when the machine rings and tells me to better than anyone he’s ever seen.

I’m a smart worker. I want to accomplish the most work with the least amount of labor.

There’s a whole chart on this concept

Now that being said I do work hard at things that need to be worked hard at. I put in 60-70 hour weeks on the regular. But you’ll get burned out unless you work smart.

People say at work I’m a hard worker. I don’t see it. I don’t think being competent is some major accomplishment. Apparently it is.

Yes it’s how I’ve made a living by out working everyone else, I started working the week I turned 15 at the first place that would hire me, pushing carts, by 23 I was the store manager, there aren’t many people my age that have work ethic tho, most people want more $ to do more, I do more to make em give me more $

I have always been a hard worker. But I took over as boss on my division a little while back and worked hard to make sure everyone could do their jobs and be competent. So now during quarantine I am just copied on emails and make sure everyone is doing their job correctly and don’t honestly work very hard anymore.

I also think people use the words hard worker and responsible interchangeably.

I have a problem letting things go I know I’m responsible for. I don’t like dropping the ball.

Making sure I’m three steps ahead always is kind of a personality trait I have of taking responsibility.

I think people conflate that with working hard or doing more than required. If it’s assigned to me, you ain’t gonna have to worry about whether it’s done because I want to keep my job. Not because I’m some model employee.

I used to be a hard worker. Now I hardly ever work, and have more time to enjoy life.

If you don't work hard when you're young, you probably will have to work longer.
