MD around DC is north. Other sections especially southern MD are redneck. I live in Montgomery County and back in the day the KKK meeting place was a restaurant about 5 miles from where I live.

If you are north of Georgia you are a Northern State.

West of Chesapeake Bay (Baltimore), definitely Northern
East of Chesapeake Bay, (Salisbury) definitely Southern

They got some rednecks in MD no doubt but the majority of the state is true blue democratic northern Yankees.

I consider it an eastern state. But north vs south, I’d say north. Anything north of Richmond VA on the eastern seaboard is NORTH in my mind.
