I am most definitely saving money by changing my own oil.
$150+ at shop
Around $100 at home - if ordering supplies off Amazon
Of course, I drive a diesel that uses 15 quarts of oil
Plus, I save time. Most quick lubes don’t carry the spec oil I need, so I am limited to certain shops and it’s a minimum 2hr wait.
My house 30 minutes start to finish. Plus I get 15 quarts of oil for my burn pile!

ANd he doesn't do oil changes specifically because of how cheap the lube places can do them. He doesn't care to buy oil by the 55 gallon drum to get a good enough price to compete with those places.

I don't make a special trip to buy it or dispose of it. I just keep a few gallon jugs of new oil and I have a jug for recycled.

Sure I can, I buy it when it's on sale. The best part is I don't waste time at the oil change place playin pocket pool or freakin off on my phone waiting in line for some toothless wonder to change my oil for me.

I do all routine maintenance myself...I don't trust anyone under my hood..I've had my truck 7 years and never had a problem with it..longest part about changing oil is to let it drip out.

I agree with this, and frankly, working the cubicle life makes me enjoy getting to do some mechanical work every now and again.
