Me and a couple buddies will take our sons. The kids play together. We take them on hikes. We get drunk by the fire. Sleep on air mattresses
Used to do a lot of canoe camping before kids

i love everything about camping, cooking over open fire. Tents. All of it. But my wife will not do it unless it’s a cabin.

I love backpacking and being alone. Bring a fly rod and you have the best experiences as a human.

I go camping at least a couple of time ls a year. Just went to Chicot State park for a weekend last month...it’s for a gorgeous trail (20 mile loop around Lake Chicot) for running, hiking or biking. Lots of places to fisk, kayak or canoe. They also have cabins that offer places to throw down a tent so it makes for a nice option to sleep outside but have the inside bathroom, shower, etc and a bed in case the weather gets real bad.

Maybe it would be fun if I had the proper equipment.
this is correct
I did not cant for a long assed time, when the wife nagged me into it I bought a good tent and double height quilt topped queen sized air air mattress, it was a game changer.

Not a miserable tent
If you’re miserable, you’re not doing it right. I switched from a tent to a hammock years ago and never looked back, but I never had a miserable night when I was using a tent.

I introduced my wife to camping/backpacking when we began dating around 8 years ago. These days she is usually the one dragging my arse out into the woods. Not that I am complaining, I much prefer someone else do the drudge work of planning trips.

Never did as a child but I have a group of buddies that go every year. We’ve done the Strong River a few times and the Buffalo River in Arkansas a few as well. It’s great. Put in on Thursday and get picked up on Sunday about 30 miles downriver. Eat like kangs too.

Haven my read the threat, but as a kid I did at the lake. These days when I’m hunting, I would call is camping. Everyone else has big aaa campers, me and my dad stay in a old arse arse house in the back room. There’s only a butane heater in the common area, where we sleep, there’s nothing unless we bring a heater.

I like tent camping but my wife would never sleep in a tent. We bought a camper 3 years ago. We use it quite a bit. Just got back from a trip to North Georgia today.

Yes, this is my rig. Find a way that is comfortable to you. It’s not for all city slickers.

Nothing better than waking up in an uncomfortable tent hungover as shite

I camped as a kid quite a lot.
As an adult living in a Florida, you couldn’t pay me enough. Our weather is miserable here. If I lived out west, I would be all about it.
Not in a tent. I need creature comforts.

My wife and I go backpacking ~6 times a year and "car camping" maybe another 6. Most of it is done in Pisgah National Forest.
The biggest issue with noobie campers is not properly picking and setting up their tent site. Finding and cleaning up a nice flat and LEVEL site is paramount to good sleep. We use various Therm-A-Rest sleeping pads depending on the temperature and how light or heavy we are backpacking. I have probably spent over a thousand nights camping in my life and very few of them have resulted in a bad nights sleep.

Used to tent camp a lot when we went to the mountains in the jeep. Had a child, sold the jeep, bought a camp and a boat.
I'll take the AC, running hot water and electricity at my camp everyday and twice on Sunday.
