Like "Mrs. Smith" instead of just her first name?

My wife does this but I cant bring myself to put a Mrs. in front of a name especially when they're younger than me.

Definitely wouldnt do it for male teachers, just sounds a bit pansy for a man to call a younger man Mr.

In the South, everyone is "Miss."

Yes.

I typically refer to people in the same manner they introduce themselves to me.

Unless they're troons.

Since I have had kids, when my kids are around, I basically call everyone by what the kids call them.

My wife is now mom
My parents by their grandparent names
Friends by Mr or Mrs. XXX
Teachers by Mrs. XXX

I'm not sure why I do it, but that's how it's happened.

Are the Children around? If so i'd address them how I expected the children to address/treat them. If we are talking one on one, i'd address them like any other adult.

Typically, because it reinforces authority, structure, and respect in the classroom. If your child hears you calling their teacher "Sarah," it blurs the professional boundary and makes it harder for the teacher to maintain a structured environment at school.

IMO, start formal. It is always easier to start with "Mrs. Smith" and have the teacher say, "Oh, please call me Sarah," than it is to start with "Sarah" and accidentally make the teacher feel disrespected.

None of my kids’ teachers have ever called me anything but “Mr. Dadren” unless I knew them personally. I do the same, and there is no first-name basis if the kids are around whether I know them or not.

No idea what age would have to do with any of this.

Interesting sentiment coming from the person that feels like their manhood is in question if they call another adult Mrs.

Sounds like you’re on track to raise a bunch of disrespectful kids.

I graduated high school with 2 of my kids' jr high teachers. felt odd referring to them as Mr or Mrs at home but I did.

Respect, societal norms, and good behavior modeling for children is "pansy"?

Interesting... I just learned a LOT about you.

Only the attractive ones. Just to see if she corrects me and says "oh no, its just Miss, not Mrs."
