I have realized that I genuinely dislike most of the people in my profession.

I no longer go to our state meetings and such. I just can't stand the notion that we do the same thing so we all have to be friends.

I guess I'm getting old and ornery.

I do. It's almost necessary in IT. Alot of times it's not what you know but who you know.

I didn't realize foot doctors were that dislikable as a whole

I go to conferences and whatnot and we have local "roundtables" to discuss things, but its not like we all hang out on the weekends

Not really. Most in my profession are nerds.

Can count on 2 hands the amount I’d hang out with outside of work related stuff

It's not.

In IT, don't associate with IT people.

I use to but not near as much now. I’m the old guy at work now. Fire/ems, I use to do all the fire trainings, medic trainings, conferences etc. Then started leadership training, now it’s all paperwork, record keeping, finance, government stuff etc. I use to go to or throw all the parties and get-togethers, now I seldom go to anything. I’ve only got a few years left and I’m gone. I’ll still miss it when I’m gone but I’m ready to be home with family full time.

Is it the funko pops, vidya games, constant pop culture references or the general dislike for all things "sportsball?"

Side note: forgot to mention Anime.

I do while at work. Kinda have too. Outside of work not really. A select couple that I will talk to about sports and shite but we dont hang out in person. Try to spend most of my off time with my family and my dogs.

I associate with others in my office, but it seems to me that those big "conferences" are just a waste of time.

I find that most people in my profession do things in a totally different style than I do. My profession is also one where there's tons of "studies" and "methods" that just overcomplicate the job, so going to those big conferences are just basically self-indulgent BS.

They got one guy at my work who's about 70 and he's the funniest guy at work. We talk all the time at work and outside of work we've hung out a couple of times.

Everyone else at work I genuinely don't really like.

They're not. I think there's just enough retards and dishonest ones that I've written everyone off.
