Anything taken to an extreme will look silly after time. But the haircut and beard by themselves aren't hipster at all, considering they were popularized in the 1920s.

No, because Jim Bob in the trailer park will never be rocking hipster styles. The mullet is ridiculed because it's trashy. Hipsterism may be ridiculous, but it's self limiting and not that many people are aware of it.
