Do y’all consider judo good for self defense?

Always hear about Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, kickboxing, etc. I did about a decade of boxing when I was younger but apparently that’s worthless now compared to the others. Just curious how judo holds up against the untrained bully or bar fight. Won’t be me, I’m old, just asking out of curiosity

Mexican judo is the best one. Judo know I got a knife. Judo know I got a gun.

I realize a gun is better I’m just curious about a school bully or random bar fight situation. Even protecting yourself against an unarmed attacker

I think it's good relative to no training, but it's better when paired with another discipline. I've heard Japanese jiu jitsu is the best all around discipline for every day self defense, with BJJ being second.

Yes, but very troublesome if your attacker has a firearm, a sharp longbladed knife, or is feral and outweighs you by 80 pounds.

If it's self defense you go for a kill

Gun, knife, or a pencil would be good to have before judo

If you’ve boxed it would probably be best to study wrestling

I’ve done a bunch of BJJ and wrestling and I believe wrestling is better for self defense.

Boxing isn’t worthless at all. Street fights generally are very messy. Being a good striker is usually enough to end one very fast. I don’t see why Judo wouldn’t be extremely useful.

Self defense is great but you need to get aggressive offensively too. Aikido is great for defense only. Jiu Jitsu is a great combination for both defense and offense.

Depends on how many people you plan on fighting and where the fight takes place.

One on one with absolutely NO ONE guaranteed to interfere - jujitsu

Any other situation, and you don’t want to end up on the ground

Learn striking first, then ground/pound
