Serious question...I know a lot of people dont want kids because of the responsibility it requires. So who is going to be there at the end if the spouse passes?

If you worry about dying old you have too much time on your hands.

I'm both spouseless and childless. I am not worried about dying alone. I have nieces and a nephew. If I can make the inheritance big enough, they'll be there for me.

No. How many adults on here hate their parents? There isn't always some idyllic happily ever after.

I'm close with my nieces & nephews, and have a lot of friends. Worst case, I'm saving for retirement & will pay medical professionals to be there when I die. I'm good.

I worry about where I'm going to spend all the money I save in retirement and where I'm going to leave all the other money and property I saved.

From what I can tell 75% of the time people with kids die alone in the nursing home heir loving children put them in.

No spouse & no kids
Why would I worry about something I can't control?
I have plenty of family & friends.

I have several friends that have made it past their mid 30s now and are not married and have no kids. They also won't neither to happen. Most of the day for a while they wanted all that but after a while and the freedom they have, they became completely uninterested in both and won't do either now.

The trips they go on and all the experiences they have, well I can't say I'm not jealous

Nope. Trust me, it's great compared to what others are doing. Life is meant to be lived.

It's not something I worry about. Too happy not being around annoying wife and kids to worry about it.

I think about it, but too late to do anything now. I have a good relationship with my neices and nephews, and I am cultivating a good relationship with my SO's kid. But those aren't parent-child bonds. They may come visit me, but I wouldn't expect them to feed me, wipe my arse for me, or sit beside me holding my hand as I took my last breath. Can't be helped. I'll have to get by without it.
