Not really. I don't even want to live to be that old. At some point your quality of live takes a big dive. Sounds like a good time to go skydiving and "forget" to pull the cord.

The old retired couple a few houses down who never had kids just sold their house (for more money than it's worth , so I appreciate the possible property value increase) to travel in their RV. In reality they have the RV parked outside the lady's niece's house and aren't doing any traveling. The decision to do this was made about two months after he had a mild heart attack. I assume it's from her fear of dying alone.

Sure kids are a pain in the arse, but your bloodline and DNA will cease to exist.

And this folks is why the white birthrate in the US is now below 50%.

So who is going to be there at the end if the spouse passes?

You do realize that having children doesn't guarantee they will care for you when you get old?

What if the child dies before you?
Child grows up and decides to live their life and just stick you in a nursing home and forget you?

The whole "but who will care for you when you are old?" argument is a very poor one for having children.

I don't have a wife or kids. I have never once been concerned with dying alone. What a ridiculous thought.

There are 12 people that call me Uncle with more on the way and eventually great nieces and nephews. I will not be dying alone if I never marry.

If I don't have kids, I'm going to go out on a Coke binge on my 80th birthday.

Either way, I'm going out on my own terms. Won't let them let me die hooked up to machines.

Preferably, with a strong drink in my hand & salty air hitting my face.

The trips they go on and all the experiences they have, well I can't say I'm not jealous
I'm kind of in the same boat. About to turn 29. No kids and not married. I would like to get married, but I absolutely do not want kids, which makes it tough finding a woman that agrees. Have been on at least one nice trip each of the last few years. Been to San Diego, Las Vegas, Anchorage, New Orleans, etc. Going to Seattle in September.

Just because you have kids doesn't mean you can't travel. And if you think they won't take care of you when you get old like nurse says do like me and put away enough so they don't have to take care of you. I have kids, I work hard and we travel wherever we want. We just do it around their school and social lives.
