Oakley is so 1994

And yet what is everyone buying their junior high kids now? What are half the LSU players wearing?

I bought an expensive pair when I was working at Genesis (Caplan's) in the 1990s at the Alexandria mall.

I rarely wore them. I was always "waiting for the right moment."

Ended up breaking them or losing them. I lost my cheap pair I have been using. Can't even afford to replace that 10–12-dollar pair at the moment.

I had a pair of E-Wires and a pair of Juliets that I wish I still had.

I tried on a couple of pairs of Oakleys not long ago, and they’re all so narrow that I can’t wear them. I prefer a metal frame, so the options are pretty limited with Oakley.

Last pair of overpriced Oakely shite I bought was 1994 ish. I think I made $6 an hour, and thought a $90 pair of shades was worth it. Obviously, we didn't have Chinese polarized glasses available for $22 like we do now.

But we still have the Maui Jim adherents, just like Speed Queen, and every other social media fad men fall for.

I am pretty sure the ones I bought were yellow and black and were over 100 bucks. This was in 1991.

Frogskins I'm assuming? It's a great example of when Pell Loans were $5k a semester, this is what we spent our money on. But still less than kids spend on DoorDash in a month.

I don't know what kind they were. I looked up Frogskins. To me, they look more like the one's baseball players wear, if that makes sense.

I thought they looked a lot cooler in the display case than when I put them on.

I got issues, and I had even more then when I was a young man.

Yeah, those were probably Heaters or some of the shite I thought was ridiculous when I was 17, and is now all the style of every junior high shithead with a sliding glove that gets on base every third game.

Frogskins were "lifestyle" whereas the Heaters were an indication you were serious about sports.

I mean I guess the answer is yes but they all look so ridiculous. Browsing their catalog and there’s not a single one that doesn’t scream massive douche.

I used to every day, now they are relegated for yard work. I sport my MJ’s as every day.

Not to hijack this thread, but I guess the same could be asked of Costa. I rarely see anyone wearing those anymore…

I’ve had the same pair of Oakley GasCans for years and love them. Not sure what all the hate is about

I have a prescription pair because they were the only pair of sunglasses at my eye doctor's that I liked.
