I have never been to an open house, but i see realtors constantly posting about having open houses. Do people still actually go to open houses?

Yes all the time. Sometimes just for fun. Other times because we are interested in buying.

Of course? If not an open house, at least a private showing. Are you really going to trust the photoshopped pictures on Zillow and various realtors' websites when purchasing a home?

How frequently are your friends and family in the market for a new home?

It amazes me to see the lengths that people go to come up with something they find outdated/uncool on this website.

clearly you dont get what an open house is

its for other realtors to get a chance to view homes so they can better recommend houses to their clients that fit their needs and not waste time if it doesnt. also buyers can come as well to look around on their own.

its a way of advertising to sell quicker and get the best price by appealing to the largest audience, especially the better upscale homes that are viewed by appointment only and generally arent posted in the general real estate ads

not going to an open house is like not test driving a car before buying it

I go to finger bang Realtor® sloots while they’re showing me the Jack-n-Jill upstairs.

There are two kinds of people in this world, trashy and not trashy. You do your best not to be caught on the wrong side of the line.

They attract a lot of nosy neighbors that have no interest in buying

I just sold my house. The couple that bought it attended our open house and never scheduled a private showing. My realtor ended up representing both sides, which ended up making me more money as he prenegotiated that he’d only take 5% if he also repped the buyers versus the customary 6% that I would have had to pay.

So short answer is yes.

Go all the time.

Fun to look to see what 1 million dollars can buy you in some places.
