I went through this with my stepdaughter. She got a new backpack EVERY year from 5th grade all the way through high school.

It's the colors man.

Luckily she went with cheap arse jansport.

Miss Patagonia, a man pretending to be a woman, now advertises for North Face. Have fun drinking the bud light with those guys.

North Face is fine for anything very far from an actual north face

I go up to the North Slope quite a bit. Carhart seems to be the most popular brand of clothing. I’m sure they sell backpacks too.

I have a 2001 model still going strong. However I’d probably buy an LL Bean one now.

Daughter (middle school, you sick fricks) wants one for school this year, but I’m about fricking sick of buying a new backpack every year. I don’t love North Face (O & G baw), but whatever she wants, right? I just want to know if it will get her to high school in 2 years.

Bought my daughter a North Face backpack when she was in the 7th grade. She has carried it throughout high school and college. She starts grad school this fall. She has also carried it on every vacation hiking National parks and as a carry on on every trip we have ever made. Same with my son. He carried his from middle school all the way to college graduation.

I don’t know about North Face. But I still have the leather Eastpak I used through HS and college. My dad bought it 37 years ago for me.

Still use mine from time to time that I bought in 2008. It’s held up pretty well.

I’ve used osprey with great success. I’d just shop Amazon and find the best durability. North face is just a name.
There are other options

I've got a timbuk2 backpack and laptop bag that I've put through hell for about 6 years now and they are still as solid as the day I bought them

Yeah but just think of all the amazing adventures she will go on just having north face.

Just wearing it is another serious step towards conquering the great outdoors

Their technical gear is still really good. Their technical packs are well build even if I don't like their layout. They also have a lifetime warranty which may so all the way down to book bags, I don't know. Their 8000 meter suit (they call it a Himalayan suit) is still really well made but at $2k I suppose it should be.

is this gear youve actually used or just looked at online? honestly curious

I had a Jansport in middle and high school and the zipper broke in college. I sent it in because they had a lifetime warranty and they sent me a new and better backpack. I still have it, 20 years later and it is in good shape.

Not sure if they still do that though.
