Pew Research Center: Which gender has it easier in the US?

quote:

Far more Americans say men have it easier in our country these days than say things are easier for women (35% vs. 9%). A majority (56%) says there is no difference. When those who say men or women have it easier are asked in what ways this is so, most cite inequities rooted in the workplace. Here are their responses in their own words.

Study is from 2017 but 6 years later, has it changed?

Attractive women for sure have it easier than men. When it comes to ugly women, Daniel Tosh said it best, "being an ugly woman is like being a man. You’re gonna have to work"

Reasonably attractive women have it the easiest by a big, big margin. Depending on your personal preferences, you can completely avoid loneliness, the burden of having to work, the need to do well in school, to be physically fit (beyond that needed to remain attractive), to defend yourself.

Often, the obligations that used to accompany a homemaker lifestyle are also lessened - minimal housework, hired help for kids, cooking, etc.

Once you get past attractive women I think it's a much more interesting debate.

I’d go a step further and say as long as the woman is decently put together and has a nice personality, their lives are much easier than men. They don’t necessarily have to be attractive. Plus with all the woke nonsense going on, a woman will get promoted and paid more than a man in most large corporations.

If done properly, the load on a couple is distributed reasonably equally. Obviously, there are exceptions where you have a very high-performing woman and a man with challenges (or vice versa). This can lead to resentment.

Certainly women had some challenges to overcome in the workplace, "good ole boys network", "glass ceiling" and all of that, but that's long since passed (probably the 80s/early 90s). Any differences in the respective sex's performance/outcomes in the workplace today can be attributed to innate differences in composition (biology) and choices that men and women make (psychology/sociology).

doesn't really have anything to do with this thread/workplace issues, but I think a lot of (attractive and attractive adjacent) women have zero appreciation for how much access they have to social events and things of that nature.

I know so many girls/women who have done so much cool shite in their late teens and twenties that basically only high earning men in their 30s and 40s have access to.

I feel like those are opposing ideas

It's saying there are three groups:

1. Americans who think men have it easier
2. Americans who think women have it easier
3. Americans who think there's no difference

Group 1 is much larger than group 2, but the majority of people are in group 3.

A good looking woman can make it hard for a man.

Nothing in this world is more privileged than a 7-10 (scale) white woman.

This.

Any woman who isn't butt arse ugly and has a decent personality will be considered attractive by a good amount of guys.

Honestly, women just need to do two things to get a man: Don't be a count and don't be obese. (and even then, we'll put up with the former for a bit if you're attractive enough)

Women have to constantly convince each other that their lives are more difficult. Evidence points to men having it worse
