Do-It-Yourselfer's - "must-have" tools to keep around

What are some must-have hand tools that are inexpensive, but have gotten you out of a bind?
For me, it is these three, a door jamb saw, a plumber's wrench, and a stump/root cutter

This tool has gotten me out of plenty of jam.

I don't have any of those tools, but I get what you're getting at. You're talking about must have tools that are outside of the standard 'wrench, power drill, etc'.
For me, it has to be the tie rod wrench that is tapered to get the tapered fitting loose.

FIFY
There's nothing like a good set of screw drivers like Klein. The same goes for their nutdrivers

A spade and a hoe and I'm good to go

That's racist and sexist!!!
The third tool in OP, the stump cutter, is a God sent. Last year we took out all of our azalea bushes. Those thing root like crazy, and that cutter went through them like butter.
I got mine at a garage sale for $1 and it is built like brick shithouse. It's old (prob 50 years old) and solid as a rock.

Duct tape, a shovel, and some bags of lime got me out of a real pickle once.

I totally agree. I use my little set for small things that I piddle around with. I get the SO to use his set or power tool thingy for the bigger jobs.
And I’d like to add electrical tape and Duct tape.
