Man when I was in college in the early 90's, I worked at k-mart. We had to wear ties and our clothes had to be pressed. No shite, k-mart of all places. But back then, you had to sorta hunt for jobs and many people who worked there aspired simply to have a full time job.

Now?

It's so hard to find people willing to do that kinda work, they'll take anybody and be glad to have them.

owned a retail bidness a few years ago that made quite a bit of coin, sold it just for that reason, couldn't find reliable people to work there and I paid more and had better benefits than anyone else in the area

Not sure how to put this delicately, but shouldn't you be used to this sort of trashiness

I had to be clean shaven to stock shelves at Winn Dixie when I was 18. Right when my neck beard was coming into its prime

Honestly at this point, I’d just settle for kids who can get an order right, bag my groceries correctly, and check shite out in a quick, efficient manner. IDGAF if they have tattoos and blue hair as long as they just do their job.

It turns out that wearing a tie doesn't make you a better employee

while that's true, it might help the character of said employee to develop some self discipline and self respect by learning how to meet standards for being hired and maintain them post hire

When it comes to certain jobs, as an employer you have to be willing to accept certain things. If you don't you will be limiting yourself to, at least decent employees, in an area where it's not really that easy to find good workers.

Some people don't care that they are in the Lord's house and should dress appropriately.
I remember as a teen some girls would wear dresses way too short for church. It was hard not to think unclean thoughts while hearing the sermon. Lol

What does wearing a tie have to do with character? Get this crap out of here.

You responded to a tie comment. You said it helps with building character and self discipline. It doesn't. Not at all.

fixed it for you

I am more offended that they don't know how to add.

Try giving one an extra one so you don't get a bunch of singles back and see if they can do it without explanation.

You expect Kroger to have responsible employees?

It's a grocery store. Not a professional job.

Wearing a suit to work is as outdated as being tied down by a strict 9 to 5 work day.

I wear khakis and a polo to work most days now. I did the long sleeve shirt and tie thing for years. Screw that in the South Louisiana heat. I don't want to go back.
