Do employers need to require quarantines with exposure still?

HR related question as an employer? What’s our plan moving forward here? I’ve had it, I’ve had both shots, if I run into someone with Covid I’m not quarantining right? Why the frick would I?
Fricking people though, have a guy that goes out to watch live music once a week for the last couple months and then his brother comes down to visit him and has Covid. Guy freaks out about getting it and wants to quarantine himself and not work. Wtf am I supposed to do here? Moving forward this is almost as fricking messy as the past couple months.

He just doesn’t want to go to work.

seems like you can't really deny him the opportunity to self quarantine. what kind of work? can't work remotely?

Nah, just ignorant. I can tell by his composure and discussion with him he was freaking out. Just completely ignorant, typical though. The attitude of it’s not effecting me until it slaps them in the face.
ETA: also his concern was didn’t want to exposure others. But what the hell dude, if that’s the concern don’t fricking go to a bar with live music right now.
As far as I’m concerned, we need to just move on with our lives and if you want to quarantine or change it that needs to be unpaid or leave fwiw

No, you don't need to quarantine
This is the direct CDC guidance: Most fully vaccinated people with no COVID-like symptoms do not need to quarantine, be restricted from work, or be tested following an exposure to someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19, as their risk of infection is low.

Well you got both shots for some reason after already having the antibodies from having covid, so why not just keep doing extra unnecessary shite?

That’d be great, but it’s not a $200k a year MBA job with people pounding on my door to work for me.
We can’t all hire perfect employees with the current labor pool

Sure, he can quarantine but he’s not getting paid or he’s using sick / vacation time

Key word being ‘no Covid like symptoms’, which include things like a fever and exhaustion.

My employees who choose not to get vaccinated still need to isolate for a period if exposed, but they do not get paid because we elected not to extend FFCRA benefits. You can either get the vaccine and stay working and get paid, or you can elect to not get vaccinated and stay home and not get paid. If they were smart, they'd just tell me they got vaccinated, but the ones that aren't getting vaccinated won't shut up about not getting vaccinated.

what kind of work are we talking about?
Posted on 4/30/21 at 8:05 am to baldona
I mean at least stay away a few days to not be an arse. You'd probably have the flu and go to work too.

With a headache? So anyone with a headache should stay home?
If they are actually sick that’s different frickwad. I’m talking about just an exposure or just mild symptoms like a headache where you would otherwise be working.
Most of my employees can’t work from home, we provide a service on site.

I work at a large aerospace manufacturing facility. Yesterday they sent a group home for Covid Protocol. Today they lifted the mask mandate inside the facility

The protection order is still in place, so if he feels he needs to self-quarantine he'd be protected. Whether or not he needs to be paid has too many legal hurdles for me to comment on as a non-attorney.
Would his job/duties allow him to self-quarantine while at work or working remotely? Due to downsizing, we tell the employees they can come to work and ask them not to interact with others for at least the next week. We are able to space out enough, that there is only 1 department where it would be an issue without reassigning the employee.

Our HR sent out guidance about a month ago saying full vaxxed employees do not need to quarantine if exposed unless you develop symptoms.

Tell him he’s being moved to a part time status until he feels like it’s prudent to return to work. Then cancel his benefits

Just tell him to wear a mask. That should keep everyone safe.
