You wouldn’t enjoy the log ride through Gina Carano’s tunnel?

Its good to see Di$ney move past racist and outdated themes. Uncle Tom's Cabin is a very racist book. I mean, a poor black man teaching white children morals and lessons? That's really racist. Doesn't Uncle Tom know he's supposed to hate white people? How dare a fictional character be humanization of a historically discriminated minority?

What’s sad is that the Uncle Remus stories were meant to amplify black voices and their original folk tales. The Br’er characters were originated by former slaves. Now Song of the South certainly painted a better picture of post-antebellum black culture than was realistic, but this ride was based solely on the Uncle Remus story and nothing else. Now it’s being replaced by a story written and directed by 2 white men. A third black man was given a writing credit but only as a token. Oh, the irony.

There were rumors Peter Thiel may try to get an investment group to buy the entire company. Their stock is big in the shitter. It's under $100 now, after a peak of $201 in March of last year.

Would be a real shame if some folks made a takeover bid. Obviously wouldn't be the first time but I don't get the vibe stockholders are real thrilled with the direction they're headed in.

considering kids can't even watch Song of the South anymore, this makes perfect sense for Disney. I don't know why people are complaining except for nostalgia.

While yes, it is odd to have a Louisiana themed mountain ride...at least Princess and the Frog is a movie children can still watch and so Disney can sell merch.

See my post. The ride isn’t about song of the south. It’s about a black folk tale that was in song of the south. As for Tiana, I think she deserved to have her own ride but not at the expense of a ride that actually paid homage to real black stories and not a retcon of a classic fairytale.

Supposedly it’ll have 1% of the animatronics that Splash Mountain. Disney will use cheaper laser projections to show the characters.

Wonder if they giving the whole Nola experience and you have to dodge bullets on the ride at some point.

People will melt

However, Disney does this all th time. They recently took an existing EPCOT ride and re-themed it to the whitest of white people

Totally Different. They took one of the most boring attractions in the park(other than the water part) and themed it to the most popular movie at the time. Splash Mountain is one of the most popular rides in the park and the movie while popular, wasn't 1/4 as popular as frozen.

Not even close to the same thing. At least Norway and Frozen have being cold in common. The old and new splash mountain has nothing in common other than a frog.

This is my 11 year old's favorite ride. I'm sure he's gonna be fired up to ride "Tiana's Bayou Adventure". This is so fricking beyond stupid, I can't even believe it.

Is the ride itself going to change it just the theme?

Just the theme, and a really shitty one. Look up a few posts. Taking out most of the animatronics abs replacing it with laser projections.

That’s not terrible then IMO, the actual ride will be the same.

And thanks for excusing my laziness bc I didn’t read the thread or the link.

Not sure yet. It’s one of the longest timeframes for a change like this. Frozen didn’t take 2 years and they used the same track as the original. I doubt the track changes, but it may be getting all new vehicles, changes to the line, the briar patch at the bottom of the fall, and much more.
