I grew up with Uncle Remus, he was wise and kind.

Folks today get offended at all the wrong stuff

Black Lawn Jockeys
#1 Blacks dominated early American racing, some were millionaires
#2 Lit jockey at night indicated safe house on Underground Railroad

Little Black Sambo
#1 Was Indian (dot) nor African
#2 Outfoxed the Tiger (representing the British Empire) in EVERY story

The way they revise history it will be no time before the UN beats Chaplin

Oh no, a Disney movie tried to make a bad situation seem less terrible? The fricking horror.

I hate that SotS is viewed as “racist” simply because it is set during those times. It’s so fricking stupid.

I think a huge part of our problem is our people try to judge the past on the standards of today.

There’s some really bad stuff in the past but let’s learn from it and not try to cancel everything

According to this logic, we should pull any song that’s ever been recorded from ever being heard again if you can glean any little piece of context from the song that may or may not be associated with any negative portrayal of black people at any time in history, as interpreted by white people who don’t have a single clue how said black people actually feel about the song in question.

their self worth is based on being moral gatekeepers.

The same ideology that banned Aunt Jamima is the same fricking ideology that banned alcohol 100 years ago.

I didn’t know where the song and characters came from until I was in my late 20’s and went to WDW for the first time as a parent. Had to Google it because I loved the ride as a kid and adult, but never knew where the characters were from. Glad I bought a SOTS DVD on ebay back then so at least they can’t censor it from me now.

The party of slavery, Jim Crow, and segregation once again wipes away an accomplishment of a black person in the name of racism. Awesome. Good job, Disney!

No one who goes to Disney knows where it came from or cares either.

That’s exactly the problem. Back in the day, slavery was common everywhere. So trying to retroactively shite on someone from that era because slavery is bad/illegal now is ridiculous. And it’s a problem that doesn’t seem to be going away any time soon.

Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
My, oh, my, what a wonderful day
Plenty of sunshine headin' my way
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay!

Mister Bluebird's on my shoulder
It's the truth, it's "actch'll"
Everything is "satisfactch'll"

Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
Wonderful feeling, wonderful day!
Yes, sir
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
My, oh, my, what a wonderful day
Plenty of sunshine headin' my way
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay!

Mister Bluebird's on my shoulder
It's the truth, it's "actch'll"
Everything is "satisfactch'll"

Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
Wonderful feeling, feeling this way!

Mister Bluebird's on my shoulder
It is the truth, it's "actch'll", hm?
Where is that bluebird?
Everything is "satisfactch'll"

Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
Wonderful feeling, wonderful day!

Positive, uplifting song sung by an Academy Award winning black man. CaNcEl iT NOW!
