Yeah, it's an increase but increases are (and should be) expected. Between MDE and all the park enhancements costs won't level out for some time.
Thought about booking a trip for next mardi gras since my cousin backed out on our royal caribbean cruise we have booked the same week, but I'd be looking at last another $1500 and just don't want to spend that much.
We haven't been since last December and no clue when we're going to head back.

I'm saving up for two trips at the end of next year. Wine and Dine and Aulani for the Honolulu marathon. My cousin is doing Dopey this year... Poor soul

In other news, round trip airline tickets from major US cities (Chicago, Boston, JFK, Dallas, Miami, etc) to Dublin are under $700 apiece quite often over the next 6 months.
You can get $750 round trip fares from LAX to Tokyo if you're flexible with your dates.
Our country is so fricking dumb when people would rather go to Disney World for the 79th time than to see the rest of the world.

Yes, I went to Disney three times in 2014. But, we went to St. Maarten in June, just got back from Chattanooga, taking a Royal Caribbean Cruise in February and going to Hawaii in April.
It is very simple to go to Disney AND "see the rest of the world" and since Disney specializes in Children, they make it quite easy for families.

And here's the "see the world" guy. shite never fails in a Disney thread. If there was ever a thread on trips to Dublin or Tokyo I would never bust up in there with "why the frick would anyone want to go to a ______________. "

I'm 99.99% sure all on site resorts have fridges in the rooms including value resorts. I know that moderates do.

You must be stupid if you cannot understand why someone would go to WDW 79 times versus leaving the country to go wherever. Completely different experiences. Personally I would rather go to Disney 100 times before I leave the country especially with kids.

Yes, back in 2013 they started installing mini fridges in all resort rooms. But, the deluxe villas (in one bedroosmand larger - not studios) have full fridge and freezer and kitchens. Those resorts also have additional items for sale in their markets (sandwich meat, frozen pizzas, boxes of cereal, etc).

The increase makes sense.....especially for Disneyland. That resort basically has no "off season" any longer because of all of the locals that show up after work, hang out without spending extra money, ride the rides (at no additional cost) all for a pretty good bargain price. This gets them a little more upfront for those willing to pay. And, if they drop to the lower level tickets then it makes the parks a little less crowded during the busiest of seasons.

What it points to more than anything is that we are headed towards tiered pricing. Now, Magic Kingdom is priced higher than AK, HS and Epcot but in the soon future you will start to see certain times of the year priced differently, days of the week, etc.
Disney is setting record attendance numbers and while they are currently expanding some of the parks, they need to find a way to disperse the wait times on the headlining attractions to maintain guest satisfaction.

While Universal and the likes have been pumping millions in to new attractions Disney spent over a billion in to MDE. They are going all in on tracking where the people are going, what they are doing then will be able to steer them to do what they want them to do.
Kinda like what they do now with pre-booking FP+ availability.
