It's like an economics experiment. How high can they go?

They could probably charge 500 without batting an eye.

This generation has given up putting down roots in favor of experiences. The demand will only stay high.

It’s way too expensive to bring a family now.

But today’s increases they only went up $5 a park for everything except the magic kingdom which they went up $10 on.

But they also increased prices on everything else. Parking is up $5, lightning lanes up $6 to $45 (which used to be free), all their merchandise is up $2-$5, food went up

No clue how this can be sustainable for them, but I guess they have to pay for all the park upgrades some way.

Do normal families even go to Disney anymore?

We use to take our kids every other year when they were little between 2005 and 2014. Always had a great time. But that’s before Disney lost its damned mind. We did go again with our daughter and another family in 2023.

But, between skyrocketing prices and the freak show Disney is becoming, I don’t think we’ll be going back. I hate that though because the next phase of my life will be with grandkids. And I’d love for us to have the same experiences with them at Disney as we did with our kids.

You can get a room for that price and they’re busy. But I’m not staying in those shitholes

In contrast, what’s a comparable Universal ticket?

Their multiple park ticket is $189. But it does t get you in the new Epic universe.

If you do one park a day it’s $159 for Epic and $139 each for the other two.

Seaworld is actually a good deal in Orlando. $69 for a ticket. Plus they always have 50% discounts. They have an additional $30 ticket for basically all the food you can eat there. The food is shitty, but it also includes drinks. You can get something every 90 min so if you are there all day it’s worth it. The problem is that you really aren’t spending multiple days at Seaworld because you can pretty much do all the rides and shows in 1 day. So it’s more of a side trip than a destination.

Hard to believe that in 2008 or 2009 they had a Florida resident special for a 4 day ticket for $100. Nice hotels were cheap on Priceline since travel was down due to the recession and our 5 year old loved going there often.

It was fun while the kids were growing up but I don’t care to go back no matter what the cost

Someone did not rent dvc points. A two week trip out west in “five star” hotels is way more expensive than week at the Wilderness Lodge.

Meanwhile, their stock hasn't moved in 10 years while the S&P 500 has gone to the moon.

Wherever all the money is going, it's certainly not to the investors.

Imagine catering to the left wing freaks and dregs of society while giving the finger to the middle class conservatives then needing to raise prices to offset that loss. frick Disney.

You went for a week (likely in the summer Orlando heat) only did 3 park days and then are surprised you hated it?

That’s like going to Yosemite and staying in the cabin 4/7 days.

Actually that's true. It seems getting into national parks is way cheaper than $200+/person/day for park passes. That's before food in the park, souvenirs, lightning lane...
