Never been on a cruise. Can you smoke on the balcony?

It depends upon the cruise line and their policies. Most have already begun limiting smoking on balconies, depending upon location on the ship. Some have already banned it altogether.

2 of the 6 sailings will be 4-day cruises with the only port-of-call being Cozumel

1 will be a 6 day cruise stopping in Cozumel, and Grand Cayman

1 will be a 7 day cruise stopping in Cozumel, Grand Cayman, and Jamaica

1 will be a 7 day cruise going to Nassau, Castaway Cay and Key West

and the last one will be a 14-day cruise stopping in Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Columbia, going through the Panama Canal, hitting Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas on the Pacific coast of Mexico and then ending in San Diego.

I assume there is no waiting in a 2 hour line for an overrated 2 minute ride.

there is something to be said for seeing Mickey or Minnie or another character, and only having 3 or 4 people in line ahead of you

You will still wait in line for 45 minutes for a picture. If Mickey is supposed to be in the atrium at 5, you better start heading that way for 4:30 if you only want 3 people in front of you. We signed up for a special meet and greet with the Marvel characters and it still took 45 minutes, but we did get to see all the characters at once.

That wasn't our experience when we went out of Galveston.

We went out of Miami in April. I don't think my son had an opportunity to meet Mickey until like the 5th day lines were so long.

We got lucky sometimes. Like I think Minnie happened to show up right where we were already at and he got a picture almost immediately. But the majority took waiting in line

So I defer to my original point. Thanks for the info. Hopefully they allow cigar smoking in designated areas.

That’s not the point. All overly touristy vacations are on the trashy side. Cruises, theme parks, Sandels-type resorts...

What about Orange Beach or Destin. Or water parks. Or ski vacations. All get called trashy on the OT. But 90% of the people posting here do these vacations.

We've been through this a 100 times on here. If the only cruise you've taken is the 4 or 5 night white trash trip leaving N.O. Mobil, or Galveston, you probably have only one perception.

I'm going on my first cruise for Thanksgiving. Kids have been begging for five years so I booked for what is probably the most expensive cruise time out of Nola to help avoid as many of the so called trash as possible. I got a plus sized cabin and big balcony. The kids will have fun and I will do just fine I'm sure.
