If you want to talk about countries eliminating civil liberties, perhaps you should look into Australia.

Boy, talk about a country that has taken on a fascistic mindset.

Arresting people for posts online.

Raiding homes that may have more people within them than the government is permitting.

Not allowing people to see dying loved ones, despite be vaccinated.

Denying travel to children who need medical procedures to prevent travel around the country.

Australia is fricked.

Sounds like a Covid breeding ground, public transport should be stopped under the guise of safety.

I literally pointed you toward one agency that has done just that, but OK.

Well, maybe you should've included that in the post I was referring to, retard.

And I just looked up V-Dem and they look like the same type of people that run Amnesty International. It's a liberal political organization masquerading as a think tank.

quote:

Varieties of Democracy (V-Dem) is a new approach to conceptualizing and measuring democracy. We provide a multidimensional and disaggregated dataset that reflects the complexity of the concept of democracy as a system of rule that goes beyond the simple presence of elections. The V-Dem project distinguishes between five high-level principles of democracy: electoral, liberal, participatory, deliberative, and egalitarian, and collects data to measure these principles.

We are a team of over 50 social scientists on six continents. We work with more than 3,500 country experts and a truly global International Advisory Board. Read more about the work we do here.

You sound like a fool.

I'm not big on upvotes/downvotes but I'm not the only one saying this if you know what I mean.

Yeah, you're winning.

New Zealand as well.

I think both are on strict lockdown.

You guys clearly feel pretty threatened by what are basically mainstream liberal ideas. Kind of a sad state of affairs, but that's where we're at.

Not sure this thread is productive anymore. We've spent several pages on nothing. I'm bored and leaving.

Well, aside from the military being called in to enforce a draconian lockdown, they operate concentration camps on islands off their coast for illegals that they detain.

Yeah, anyone who knows anything about history gets a little pissed off when you advocate for surrendering my civil liberties.

I don't see where Poland and Hungary have "documented and observable" declines in civil liberties, ESPECIALLY as compared to these other European socialist utopias

They really don't have a democratic tradition or institutions to speak of, and might, to the foreign eye, regress to their mean. Effectively, countries like Pakistan, India, Ghana and Turkey have longer histories of republican rule, with 3 of those four having periods of military intervention. But that is just a function of time rather than something innate.

Poland and Hungary do have to deal with stagnant economies, though Poland has improved in the last half-decade, but also they have issues with high rates of brain drain to developed economies, and low birth rates. That both have focused explicitly on birth rates in a public fashion might explain why certain media hails or dislikes them. Why no one focuses on the Swedish model is curious though.

What did you do to get called worse than a fascist? That’s pretty near the top on worst things you can be.

The “2 weeks” of shutdowns that individuals like you supported, continue to support, and want to strengthen over the previous 1.5 years has jaded individuals like myself and OML as to the type of people our fellow citizens truly are.

Yep, and I think I understand tyranny better than the average person having lived under it and hearing multiple horror stories. It’s one thing to ask me to shut down when we don’t know what the virus is. By last May we did and we should have followed Florida’s example nationwide. Instead A-Holes like 82 are demanding I give them the One Ring: I’m not going to do it. I will cast the Ring into the fire when given the chance.

This is probably the most ignored aspect of immigration. Places like Mexico and Central America hemorrhage domestic labor and talent that can be used to revive/build up their economies. But we're told that unchecked immigration is not only a good thing, but a moral imperative despite severely damaging those countries of origin in the long run in return for financially relieving those governments in the short term.
