BBQ places I notice the increase the most. Essentially 40% increases at places we go.

Which I feel like most people understand with their cost skyrocketing. Ordered a filet a few weeks ago and the waitress warned us that it would be $68.

The rest of your post leads to me to believe otherwise.

We eat out once a week at a sitdown restaurant and it is usually $75 with tip.

2 kids meals and 2 basic cheeseburger combos cost $41.

We usually get lunch out after church. About the only non-chain options are Mexican. The bill for the 4 of us to get sh!tty Mexican is now around $50 after tip

If you went to eat a sit down restaurant by yourself and got a full meal with entree, side, a non-water drink, and tipped and the total ended up being $10-$12 would you call that absurdly expensive?

This. Prices are up but I feel like the OP is a bit of a tightwad.

totally agree with this, but your examples of expensive seem cheap based on my recent experiences. I can’t take the family out to even fast casual for less than $75. If we have a server we are $100 in for sure.

ETA: pizza is the only eating out that is still relatively inexpensive

You’re right... it’s fricking expensive

What pisses me off even more is paying 7-8 bucks for a draft ipa

Stay home and cook if you want, but groceries have gone up too. I never found cooking at home to be that cheap of an option. Maybe for kids.

That doesn’t bother me as much as $3 for each of my kids to get a drink.

If I roll in to a White Castle with my coupons it is very reasonable. White Castle has the best coupons.

It’s true. I briefly waited tables in college.

But I always go minimum 20%.

If the cost of that very same meal was $9 just 6 months ago, yes.
That’s a 33% increase.

Depending on your kids age this isn't bad at all for a table and waiter.

I spent $104 for a family of 5 at a mexican restaurant in Tuscon a couple weeks ago because my wife ordered all 3 kids outragoues meals, got a $20 marg, and got a $12 queso app. We splurged but still $104 with 3 kids under 10 for mexican was stupid.

But yes, even fast food for a family of 4 or more is no longer under $25 and hard to get under $40.
