And if someone yells at your kid? What do you do, madam?

None of the white trash courses of action proposed here. I might just thank them for doing my job for me.

I would hate for someone to say something to my child. Why would I want my child to experience that, and possibly get myself into an altercation?

You seemed triggered. Are you white?

Not saying it's the right thing to do, but 100% chance my wife would have punched that lady in the face unless I was able to stop her first.

If it were a dude, she'd probably try to punch him as well. I'm a bit more diplomatic, so I'd probably have some serious words first with the dude before it may have come to blows.

Yes, I'm sure that's what you'd do.

I sure as hell wouldn't teach my 2 year old that hitting a woman is acceptable.

I agree and disagree with the owner... She has the right to yell because she owns the place... Also, I believe the family was very inconsiderate of others in the place for not taking the kid outside and calming it down... What will hurt the woman and eventually wreck her business is the lack of control over her emotional state, not because she yelled at the kid, but she actually was threatening with physical violence over social media... If you're gonna be a business owner you need to have at the very least control over yourself and your own actions...

Yelling at the child is wrong no matter what you have done previously. You tell the parents to leave, you never yell at the child in this situation.

Exactly. Clearly anybody who is for yelling at someone's child doesn't have a child of their own. A good parent would have diffused the situation on their own. You take it up with the parents...not the child.

And I guess we have a glimpse of our country....where it is acceptable for strangers to yell at one's kid. There are quite a few of you who obviously do not have kids. If you wouldn't stand up for your baby, you're not one who should be a parent. When my kid does wrong, he'll get disciplined...but in no way should a toddler be yelled at for crying. The bitch should have asked/talked to the parents.

I would not "punch the bitch" as another said. But, I would have words with anyone who yells at my kid for crying. Self-absorbed society. No one is going to screw Rex anyway, so of course he'll always take sides like this.

She's going to be just fine. Idiots saying they are boycotting wouldn't have been customers anyway (seems most of them don't live within a few hundred miles of the place anyway, empty threats). Regulars probably appreciate her effort in correcting some lazy a-hole that couldn't control their spawn.

I think it will be more about her losing her temper and doing something crazy instead of people boycotting..

She clearly wasn't dealing with good parents. Get that part down, and the rest might fall into place for some of you.

As for your "baby", no one cares.

LSU hunt must have kids that don't know how to act that's why he is so defensive about this. Change your ways or they will grow up to be as big a douche as you are.

You said you'd thank them.
I said you wouldn't.
You said you wouldn't let your kid hit someone.

Yea,that's about as textbook of a straw man as one could find.

I have a 2 & 4 year old who eat out with us fairly often, so they're used to behaving in public. We usually preface a restaurant meal with a talk about what's expected.

The actions you're recommending are what you do in the privacy of your home- let your kid yell & throw a fit only to not get what he wants, thus reinforcing positive outcomes & discouraging negative ones.

In public, you give him whatever to make him shut up.

But that being said, that diner owner comes off as an unstable nut bag.
