Different take on Jackson’s water system issues: institutional racism

I know way way more about this than I should, and unfortunately can’t discuss any of it.
I don’t agree with a lot that’s in this article but there is zero doubt that white flight out if the city is a primary cause. Now was that flight the result of just racism or people fleeing a terrible school district, a corrupt and terrible city government, rising crime etc. Basically moving to the burbs to have better quality of life. (Basically what is happening to Mobile right now and what happened to New Orleans in 70s)
Also they completely failed to mention the Siemens water meter disaster that caused a complete underfunding of the system. Siemens dumped these faulty remote water sensors on small cities and towns throughout the South after getting run out of Chicago and California because we are apparently stupid enough to buy the bullshite they fixed them. Why take a loss on them when you can sell them to some other suckers. They settled the suit for 95 million which was about 300 million too little and after attorneys fees had 60 million which I assume they embezzled or something. Don’t buy them people. (Of course Mobile and Prichard installed them few years ago cuz we be stupid.)

I've never heard anything before being blamed on "institutional racsim," that's a new one.

This sounds like youre saying "without white people the system doesn't work?"

This is hilariously stupid

White flight is racist, but so is gentrification.

Institutional?
I thought it was systemic?
I'm confused by all the different types of racism.

Much like Flint, it's not a racism issue, it's an economic issue. It just happens that most of the folks there are economically challenged. There are many small rural towns in this mostly white state that are facing the same challenges.

How long have democrats been running that shithole.

I think it’s okay to let black people have their own cities and safe spaces. Just don’t come complaining when your shite falls apart.
Posted on 8/31/22 at 11:38 am to TutHillTiger
Maybe if heavily black places weren't shite holes, people wouldn't mind living around black folks.
Posted on 8/31/22 at 11:42 am to TutHillTiger
Systemic racism does play a part—racism by black leaders like the current mayor.

We need the evil whites who work and pay taxes to stay in our crime ridden areas so they can save us from ourselves. But we still want to rob and kill them because they are racists. Is that about right?

The blame is incompetence, greed and corruption.
You can put any label on it you want to but that's what it boils down to.

I have not kept up too much, I did see Dikumba Mutumbo mayor on the news. This is not impacting residents in Madison? Ridgeland? Just the actual city of Jackson?
