So the question is, does this just not cost the bank enough to care? Or there really enough people that still call these to make it worth keeping around??

It was maintained by a bank and they’d add a joke of the day occasionally. One time, a friend misdialed 892-3303 and an elderly black woman answered. She was less than cordial so we used to call her often and ask what time it was.

Kids do the darndest things.

Yep, Commercial National Bank in Shreveport use to sponsor it. They also had a huge digital clock the flashed the time and temperature on top their building downtown. Clock is still there but it has gone dark.
