No better way to get an up to the minute temp and forecast 40 years ago than calling the local T&T.

I grew up in Leesville, but my family always used the one at the bank in DeRidder. And crazy enough, they still run it to this day. Anyone wants to give it a try, here you go-

We had Time & Temperature as well as Dial-a-Prayer. Not kidding. The 70s and 80s were very different from today's world.

Called it every morning.
Now when some store asks for my phone number that’s what I give them.

Well, a box of red and a pill or three
And I'm calling time and temperature just for some company

I wish you were here, I wish I was too
I'll drink myself to sleeplessness, like I always do

You’ve never been lonely and desperate unless you’ve called time and temperature just so someone would actually answer your call.

We had a rotary phone.

Upgraded to push button.

My uncle still had a rotary wall phone in his kitchen when he died 10? years ago.

Yep. And we used to tell girls to call us at a specific time late at night. We would call that number a couple of min early and then the call waiting would let us know that they were calling so the phone didn't ring and wake up our parents.
