A task force created by California's governor, Gavin Newsom, to explore reparations payments on Wednesday held a public meeting in Sacramento.

California's reparations board has been told to increase the amount given to each black resident from $5 million to $7.6 million - as one economist said the proposed $800 billion budget was not enough.

Since men can identify as women, I see no reason I can’t identify as a black San Franciscan

Could have seen that coming

You could give $20 million and it won’t matter

99% of people will spend the money on completely stupid purchases and be broke again.

Not one person has thought, hey let’s add some financial education to this and help make the money grow

And this "new houses for $1.00" crap is ridiculous. They deserve 50¢ houses!

If they believe they will actually see anything, can't blame them for pushing for more. If you're going to dream, dream big.

How quick will they burn down SF when they find out they’re getting nothing?

You're technically correct because California was a free-state, but slavery definitely happened in the area prior to statehood.

Do not misconstrue my statement of an endorsement of reparations.

Pay it, then cut SNAP, FITAP, Child care subsidy, section 8, medical for under 65 , Title 7/EEOC, and affirmative action. It will pay for itself.

The idea of reparations is illogical and unreasonable.

-Nothing will change history or undo the suffering.

-California was a free state and shouldn't be held accountable for slavery.

-No person that will receive payments were slaves.

-No person paying this money(every person in the state)owned slaves.

-Holding people responsible for wrongs committed before they were born makes as much sense as believing a man can be a woman. Insanity.

I’m pretty sure that most people pushing for reparations don’t realize they won’t qualify for government assistance once they get their reparations payments.

Look how far we’ve come since the days of “ 40 acres and a mule !”
This is progress.
